EXCLUSIVE: Ansel Elgort has inked his next major role after enjoying a breakout 2014 with hits The Fault in Our Stars and Divergent, both opposite the Golden Globes-nominated Shailene Woodley. Now he’s set to star with Chloë Grace Moretz in November Criminals, the teen thriller adaptation that Hitchcock‘s Sacha Gervasi is directing for Lotus Entertainment.

Steven Knight (Locke, Eastern Promises) adapted the script from Sam Munson’s 2011 novel about two teenagers who venture into the seedy underbelly of Washington, D.C. to investigate a friend’s murder while falling in love for the first time.

Catherine Keener also stars in the film, which Lotus came aboard to co-finance and co-produce during November’s AFM. Beth O’Neil (Jack Goes Boating) is also producing. CAA and WME are jointly repping domestic rights and Lotus will handle international sales.

Elgort, the 20 year-old son of an opera director and a photographer, burst onto Hollywood’s radar last year after making his feature debut in MGM’s Carrie remake. He also starred in Jason Reitman’s ensemble drama Men, Women, and Children and will reprise his role as Caleb this March in Summit/Lionsgate’s Divergent sequel, Insurgent.

Moretz is coming off of the Denzel Washington actioner The Equalizer and teen drama If I Stay. She’ll also be in theaters in March in director Olivier Assayas’ Clouds of Sils Maria with Kristen Stewart and Juliette Binoche.

Lotus has a current slate that includes Xavier Gens’ thriller The Crucifixion, Shekhar Kapur’s Tiger’s Curse, Replicas starring Keanu Reeves, Halle Berry starrer Kidnap, Tom Tykwer’s A Hologram for the King, YA adaptation Fallen, Arnold Schwarzenegger zombie pic Maggie, and Craig Zobel’s Z For Zachariah, which premieres this month at Sundance.

Elgort is repped by CAA and Brookside Artist Management.
