“Cancer books suck,” declares the 16-year-old protagonist of John Green’s affecting work “The Fault in Our Stars.” But, alas, Hazel Grace Lancaster has never read the tear-jerking novel, which took the literary world by storm in 2012, earning a spot as Time magazine’s #1 book of the year.

The story follows cancer patient Hazel Grace as she meets and falls in love with a fellow support group member, Augustus Waters. A big-screen adaptation is currently in the works with two YA-fluent actors already in place: “Divergent” co-stars Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort (they play siblings in the 2014 dystopian drama).

When Elgort stopped by MTV’s Comic-Con live stream to talk all things “Divergent,” we couldn’t help but wonder if his experience on set with Woodley aided the “TFiOS” audition process.

“I’m sure it helped,” Elgort said with a grin. “We were already becoming best friends on this film, and then I tested in L.A. with her for that, and the chemistry was perfect. We’re both so excited to do it.”

A new report from a local Pittsburgh newspaper confirms with the city’s film office that The Fault in Our Stars will begin shooting precisely on August 26.

Most interesting, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that The Fault in Our Stars will be released in 2015.

That time frame comes as a slight surprise because producer Wyck Godfrey told Hypable last year that the film was aiming for release in 2013 or 2014. We’ve reached out to Fox to seek confirmation about 2015 but have not heard back yet.

The Pittsburgh film office says that The Fault in Our Stars is the first movie to shoot in the city in 2013. Readers may recall that the book to film adaptation of Stephen Chbosky’s The Perks of Being a Wallflower was also shot in the Pennsylvania city.

Although many scenes in the book take place in Indianapolis, filmmakers will use Pittsburgh to shoot because of film tax credits. They will also shoot in Amsterdam, which is where later scenes in the book take place.

The Fault in Our Stars is the film adaptation of John Green’s young adult novel of the same name. Shailene Woodley stars as Hazel Grace and Ansel Elgort will play Augustus Waters.

Woodley and Elgort are currently wrapping work on Divergent, which is shooting in Chicago. They play brother and sister Tris and Caleb.

We learned earlier this week that Fault will be scored by two of Bright Eyes’ band members.

As guests pour into San Diego for the 2013 Comic-Con, “MTV Geekend” continues to expand its live-streaming coverage of the event with a conversation with the entire cast of “Divergent,” Neil Burger’s adaptation of the acclaimed book by Veronica Roth.

On Thursday, starting at 2 p.m. on Comic-Con.MTV.com and going all weekend, MTV News’ Josh Horowitz will sit down with Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Neil Burger, Veronica Roth, Ansel Elgort, Ben Lamb, Maggie Q, Mekhi Phifer, Miles Teller, Ben Lloyd-Hughes, Christian Madsen, and Amy Newbold for an in-depth chat about the upcoming film.

“Divergent” follows Beatrice ‘Tris’ Prior, a young woman who lives in a society where humans are separated into groups according to their personality traits. After taking an aptitude test that qualifies her for three different groups, Tris embarks on a journey of self-discovery that forces her to choose between the path her parents chose and one she forges on her own.
