What is a Slot?

A narrow depression, perforation, or opening; especially one for receiving a piece fitting or sliding in it. A position in a group, sequence, or schedule. I booked the 2 p.m. slot for my haircut.

A game where players can win prizes for matching symbols on the pay line of a machine. Different types of slots offer varying payouts, and some can even trigger bonus levels and jackpots.

In addition to the traditional mechanical reels, some newer slot machines feature touch-screen technology. These slots are popular with gamers because they have more graphics and more ways to win.

The probability of hitting a particular symbol on a slot machine is determined by the number of active lines and the size of the coin bet. Some slots also have a wild symbol that substitutes for other symbols to increase the chances of winning.

To create a custom slot, click Add Slot Type in the left pane and select Custom slot type. Type a name for the slot type and choose a regular expression that matches the information you want to identify. You can also add synonyms for the slot type so that Dialog Engine recognizes a variety of words and phrases for the same meaning. For example, you can add NYC for “New York City” so that when the bot identifies this value in an utterance, it knows to match it to the flight code you want to handle. This can improve the accuracy of your bot’s responses.
